It was a somewhat 'flexible' start: The main purpose was of course to inform everybody about the programme, to get acquainted and to get internet access working on everybody's laptop.
In the afternoon (an hour later than planned, due to the elongated lunch of the supervisors :-) Dr. Çetin Sarikartal gave the first lecture of this summerschool about the Art of Calligraphy from a design perspective. It was an inspiring lecture about form, meaning, structure and experience. For most students it generated more questions than it answered. Wich is good: now hopefully the lecture will sit in the back of everyones brain to stirr up their perceptions and expectations.
After the first introductions the students took a tour through the university and everybody went out for lunch after that.
