The Princess Islands

Some useful information about the trip on Saturday,

As you all know from the programme, this trip is optional (but highly recommended, for those who enjoy sightseeing !!) :)

Well, I tried to manipulate the image of the boat schedule -that was only available in Turkish with some useless details- now before the departure you debate on the time of departure.

and here comes the vital information:
1- Kabatas is the nearest place to your hotel. You should depart from there. If you go early, your seat in the boat will probably be in a nice location. Also, the boat will be less crowded.
Grand Halic - Kabatas (approx.)
by walking through Karaköy 20-25 mins
by taxi (from the other side of the road) 5-8 mins

and the price of token ("jeton" in turkish) is 2,80 YTL.

2- Usually, during the weekends, the islands become very crowded. But going on saturday is far better than being there on sunday. People who went there last year had very positive feedback about the density.

3- You can use these two sites to get more info about the islands
http://www.greatistanbul.com/islands.htm (very modest city huh ? :))
http://english.istanbul.com/Content.aspx?CatId=3652&Type=detail

3- Don't go into the restaurants that have an "exaggeratedly friendly" attitude :) I am not warning you about an upcoming danger, but we are living in the age of first-person, the choice must be yours ! :)

4- Although swimming is mostly not recommended in Marmara sea, you can still find some areas where the residents of the islands use for swimming. Compared to mediterranean shores, swimming in Istanbul is pointless, but it is still a possibility. Swimming pools are also an option.

5- For the ones who like quicker excursions, it is possible to rent a bicycle from some shops.

I may update this post if more remarks come to my mind,
and please consider this post as a confession from my side, 'cause probably I won't be able to join you :)

Lastly, IDSS and boat trip together remind me of a photograph I took yesterday...
